Carnival Glass entry table

A few months ago I took our old hall entry table and made it over to sell in the shop. We purchased it at World Market years ago and it served us well at the old house. The style doesn’t really fit in the new digs and there really isn’t anywhere to put it anyway.

Of course I forgot a true before, but here it is after I sanded off the top.

I was inspired by a set of carnival glass knobs by DLawless hardware I have to use on a desk (when I can get it out of storage- it’s in the back- big sad face).

So that’s a bit of a cheat, but here is how I achieved that finish. I forgot to take pictures along the way… so I’ll just jump to telling you how….

I started with Shabby Paints Purple Heart then I wet sanded it for smooth perfection. Then I used a white Taklon brush to add Sapphire Shimmer on top leaving a shine and gorgeous mix of colors, very closely resembling that carnival glass. (It’s not easy to photograph)

Here she is all finished in the shop:

I stained the top with a custom blend of Hazelnut, Black and Sheer reVAXes just brushed on and lightly sanded with 1500 sandpaper between coats.

She’s all ready to go and set up at the store with a Father’s Day display…

Stop by if you’re in town… I’d love to see you!

XO!

(DLawless was kind enough to send me the fabulous knobs to use on that desk ages and share with you… I really can’t wait to dig it out so I can… all opinions are my own and always will be)
