FINALLY… I have gotten to a point with the Hoosier that I can sit down and write about Haven.
What a fabulous experience!! How incredible to be in a room full, I mean FULL of women (and a few men) who share your passion! Seriously, can you imagine?! Not once did I have anyone roll their eyes when I talked about paint, or tools, or repurposing, or A Pinterest Addict’s painted chair…. Nearly anyone I asked a question about blogging answered it. Not in the short and sweet “here you go” kind of answer, the answer with details and reasons and HELP….
Haven. Was. Incredible. Seriously… worth every penny spent to get there.
Here are some highlights of my trip:
This is Eliesa from A Pinterest Addict. If you didn’t know, I adore this woman. Guess what?! Now that I have met her in person, I love her more! She’s fantastic and if you don’t read her blog, you need to. It’s great and so is she!
The first night several large groups of bloggers went to dinner together. Here’s some shots of my group:
We had a great time and it was really nice to get to know some of the women I have been following and meeting new friends to follow too!
The vendors were amazing! Here are shots of just a few of the booths there:
The girls from Online Fabric Store were incredible! They were super nice and REALLY fun!
Doesn’t this just make you want to learn to sew? (ok, you can probably already sew… I wish I knew how)
They had this cute map for everyone to put their information on and they raffled it off. I loved it (I didn’t win though- boo).
The fabric they gave out was adorable and I already have a project in mind for it. It should be a quick one I can whip out before school starts.
There was the phenomenal architectural salvage company, Southern Accents, there as well. WOW- that booth was a repurposer’s dream! I cannot wait to have a project to work on with them! In the meantime, I need to check out their site to find some letters for the family.
Home Depot was there with lots of tips and tricks and some fun displays:
Backyard Kerplunk anyone?
I took some incredible classes too. Tips and advice on working with brands for sponsorship and advertising, how to set up your blog for maximum impact and return viewership, and even a painting class with Miss Mustard Seed herself.
ok, I have tried a million ways to Sunday to fix this picture and it will not saved cropped… Let’s just name it- My pants are so big it’s embarrassing.
It may seem crazy, this thing works! If you redo furniture even just for fun, you NEED it! It isn’t even expensive!
The highlight event of the conference was the Ryobi Power Tools mixer on Friday night… Honestly, these people know how to make you feel good.
They looked up every bloggers homepage and customized their name tag. We were greeted by adorable men (there were a few at the conference, VERY few), and entertained and bedazzled by giveaways and fun.
The sign of an incredible DIY chic night…. beautiful flowers and drill bits for centerpieces! Don’t you love it?!
There are lots of photos on my Instagram and you can search the hashtag #RyobiRocksHaven to see everyone else’s. My favorite photo is this one:
Yes, it’s ridiculous, I know. the conference was fun, that cordless sander is amazing, and I was having a moment… You know what though? Totally worth it. I won a combo kit from Ryobi and it’s on the way to my house now. I totally needed a new drill and now I will have an impact driver. Have you ever tried one? They are INCREDIBLE! Fast and powerful…. and I will HAVE ONE! a new one.. that I didn’t have to inherit- can you feel how exciting this is to me?!
I took the plunge and signed up for a room with three total strangers and had three amazing room mates who are now three friends. Two of them even live within an hours drive- how’s that for “divine design”? I thought I had a picture of them with me… I can’t find it so I’ll have to add it later.
Hopefully you’ll be getting a feel for a few of the things I picked up in the coming weeks with the new blog design. I’m anxious to show you what I’m working on…
What do you think? Would you attend a conference like this? Is it too niche for you?
