What can I say? I really do adore Canada! All the stereotypes are true- they really are very nice people! I actually knew this already since I have been there a few times already… (I just thought I would lead with this in case YOU haven’t had the chance to make it there yet.)
What an adventure!! I told you about Robert’s adorable home. I am finally able to show you my favorite piece of furniture in his home:
He found it at an estate sale years ago… isn’t it divine?
My visit with him was invigorating- thank goodness… I was going to need every bit of my energy for the next few days!
Friday night I drove up to Port Perry and arrived at about 11PM. I introduced myself to Sara from North Carolina (my roomie for a few days) and headed (more or less- of course we had to talk for a bit) straight to bed.
The next morning we got up and headed out to breakfast with John & Bobbie from London. Kathy lovingly refers to John as her “Professor of Paintology”. He used to be an engineer and he is crazy smart and wonderfully talented. His wife Bobbie is adorable and couldn’t be more friendly. We hit Tom Horton’s (apparently a Canadian MUST stop) for breakfast and headed out.
our “Professor of Paintology” John of Stan Portley’s
The training was at a shop called Antweek in Port Perry. I walked in the back bay of the garage and was “greeted” with this:
(Laaa….. can you hear the angles?)
So of course I immediately know I am with “my people”…
We all jumped in an introduced ourselves and took off… Wow! wonderful long days of work and still SO much fun!
I know you’re really reading this because you want to know about the new product so here’s a bit of a sneak peek that honestly just does NOT do any of it justice…
Furniture Frosting: These little pots are incredible! What looks like nothing turns into stunning art right before your eyes!
these little jars work some serious magic…
Kathy’s fabulous furniture frosting board
Here are just some of what others created using the same products!
Tie Dye: Honestly… how incredibly cool is just the idea of this? Tie dye for your furniture?! It is INCREDIBLY messy and really quite fun!! We pretty much had a party working on a cute nightstand.
Before we started the “process”
even the spill over is incredible!
look at the after effects on the floor- Wowie Zowie!
and here is the finished product:
a touch of furniture frosting on the hardware too….
Can you hear me squealing from here?!
This morning I ran by the shop one more time to hug Kathy and the fabulous Joanne Mudd of Muddaritaville and then headed off…. not before I got a fantastic shot of the three of us though:

The tye dye paint is better then I imagined when you told me off it weeks ago! The colors are so vibrant! And frosting for furniture….amazing effect 😉
I’m still considering a paint line and Van Gogh is looking good right now. Just working on my “Start Up” costs.
