rv remodel- the finished product!

I am so excited to show you the finished rv remodel! When my client left my property, she had instructions on last-minute adjustments and a LOT of decor to place. I know she stayed up for hours to make sure it was all done, in addition to packing up her home for sale. I went to her “open house” ready to get some great photos, and I did!

I really love the way she painted the coffee table. It works for the area without being too “beachy”.

Hi Vicki! The manufacturer of the RV recommended 1″ screws for all the walls (interior and exterior). I generally reused or matched the ones I had removed from the parts and pieces as I took them down. The shiplap was mostly construction adhesive with 5/8 brad nails to hold it as the adhesive dried. You should be able to google the recommended screw length or confirm by removing a few and checking them. Just remember to account for the width of the item you’re mounting. In other words, if your shelf is 3/4 of an inch thick, you would most likely need a longer screw than 1″ as it wouldn’t hold very well. I hope this helps!

Hi Scottie!! I just bought a camper, honestly my husband has not been 100% on board (he’s about 17% on board) but I have been obsessing about getting and redoing a camper for a solid year. I’ve never even been camping in a camper. Of course it leaked, I think I have fixed that 🙂 Thank you so much for the wonderful idea’s!! You have reinvigorated me for the long project ahead. It is incredible beautiful. I snuck a peak at your Instagram and I am just a little jelly that you were hanging out with Paige Davis, she’s the best. I’ll be checking back a lot to see how you did things. Much love! Ary

Hi Ary! I am so sorry I am just seeing this comment! My fall has been nonstop this year please forgive me. I am so glad you got your leak fixed! That is probably one of the most frustrating things as it can really ruin all your hard work. I am about to embark on a whole strip to the bones camper reno… that will be a new experience, but I am super excited about it! I would love to see pictures of yours!!

    Scottie,

Beautiful re-do, from boring to livable. The office is a great re-configuration too. Haha ‘cork board’…love it! I’d still pin stuff to it, even with the bumps :o)

My question, that ‘shelf’ over the head of the bed, could it be taken out? I see them every so often and they look like they’d prevent sitting up in bed.(a necessity).

Hi Libby! My apologies on not getting this answered sooner please forgive me.

I do think it probably could be removed. The biggest thing with campers, trailers, and mobile homes is the lack of storage. If you are willing to lose all that room to store things, I am sure you could take the shelf out. However, it does curve in (or out depending on your perspective) quite a bit so once you add pillows etc, there was enough room to sit up in bed for a regular height adult. It just looks shorter from the angle of the picture.

Sure- they’re super easy! Pick out some fabric then sew (or use fabric glue) a “hem” for the sides, then an opening for the rod on top (and maybe the bottom if you want the weight it down when they’re closed. Then grab some inexpensive belts at the local discount store (WalMart, Target, thrift store, etc). I don’t even think they were secured at the wall side, but you could screw them in if you wanted to. I did have to punch a new hole for the buckle. You can use a nail punch and a hammer or a small drill bit and clamop it taught (the nail punch is probably easier). Enjoy!!

Sharra, I am so sorry I never saw your comment. Please forgive my delayed response! Some were screwed directly to the wall and others used command strips or 3M mounting tape. They have several different versions so you can pick the one that works best for you.

We took it apart as much as possible. Ikea furniture comes in pieces and replacing the plastic feet with wooden ones allows you to be able to secure it to the floor with brackets easily so it doesnt move in transit.

Your remodel is absolutely amazing!! There are so many inspirations throughout your post! I have a question about the wood sign about the door, how did you make the wood sign itself? I’m looking for different options and I really like your idea!

Thank you so much for your kind words. The wood for the sign over the door was the original cornice that had been covered in brown fabric (and actually went all the way around the door, the side parts were removed). The fabric was removed, the wood underneath painted to match everything and the vinyl applied on top. You can see it in the “before” post- It was black before and the shape is the same.

It’s an Ikea Ektorp loveseat. I believe we replaced the feet with wooden ones and then used L brackets to attach it to the floor.

It just fit. It’s a loveseat so it has a smaller profile, and the feet were changed to wooden ones so it could be attached to the floor. The feet weren’t on it when it was brought in to make it as easy as possible.

OMG! I love this redo. Lots of great ideas for when I get my Mom’s RV. We have done some renos on it as well but wow yours turned out so beautiful! We need to paint the cabinets but you know they’re not real wood so we have researched so many different ways on how to paint them which makes it a daunting task. Demo day for her RV is coming! LOL. Anyway good job!

Thank you so much! It was a super fun project for sure! The key is oil-based primer. Make sure you cover the cabinets fully and you should be fine to paint them with any product you like once the primer is dry. Have fun with it and feel free to reach out with specific questions. I am happy to help!
