I think I found this beauty at an estate sale…
with her matching chair (which is always a plus)…
Obviously well-loved and in need of just some cosmetic uplift.
I’ve been SO ready for spring lately. I know I am not the only one. This winter has been BRUTAL and I’m honestly trying to figure out how I can move south. I don’t think I can do another one like this… Anyway, I say that to explain my color choice- van Gogh Furniture Paintology has two awesome Paintologists in Canada who share the same coral color and have given it two different names. Lisa at Cameo Boutique calls it “Sundown Dream” and Jenny at Ava Blake Creations calls it “Coral is the Moral”. When I saw it, I HAD to have it… it reminds me a lot of the color I used to paint my first piece- Abbie’s dresser with a Behr color called “Youthful Coral“.
When my order arrived, I starting experimenting with finding some fun match ups and decided on Confidence- a fantastic deep, dark teal, like the bottom of the ocean. Of course I couldn’t stop there… van Gogh just introduced a new product called Furniture Frosting. it looks like a face cream and when applied turns into opalescent magic! It has a beautiful veil of color that can be used alone, or layered on top of one another for a result that can look like the inside of an abalone shell (Kathy’s original inspiration for the product). There are currently seven different colors… after exploring on a sample board, I absolutely fell in love with the veil of gold over the coral…. Wow! The product can be applied with a damp sponge, plastic putty knife/spatula, a brush, or even your finger.
Here is what I ended up with and I am SO pleased:
You can see the hint of gold on the edges in the sunlight. It’s currently at the Hummingbird’s Nest in Lucketts, VA ready for its new home.
