I received an email from the local Habitat for Humanity chapter and they mentioned a contest. They call it an upcycling contest. The basic idea is you receive $100 “credit” at the ReStore and grab some things, turn them into something else, and submit photos. Then you drop off your item at one of their ReStores and they take them to a local home show. People vote, the winner get a $500 Visa Gift Card. Doesn’t that sound like fun? I think so. I emailed the contact and begged to participate. Hooray- they wanted me!
After scouring both locations, I had this FABULOUS idea! I “bought” this amazing china cabinet. We had both kids so it wouldn’t fit in the van so they said I could pick it up the next weekend. Guess what?! It was still too big for the van- BOO! ok, quickly, run around and come up with something… the upside is that nearly EVERYTHING I need was there that day- Woot!
Read the email today again and realized they want the before and after pictures on Monday…oops. I better get working.
Here’s what I bought…..
Do you ever start doing something and then realize possibly you have no idea what you’re doing and maybe it wasn’t the greatest plan or idea…? Hmm… think that’s what happened here?
I’ll keep you posted on my progress…

March 13, 2013 at 8:18 PMScottie, you are so kind. THis piece is lovely. It’s the perfect canvas for some Furniture Makeup…I’m thinking Luminous Eye Shadow. If you still have it when I get there, could I work on it with you?
