Cooking? I know- Crazy right?! If you’ve been around awhile you know I don’t enjoy cooking. I have been blessed that my husband DOES enjoy it so he does it and I am incredibly grateful. When my friend Luca Manfé asked if I would like to introduce my audience to his new meal delivery service, Delivery Italiano, I jumped at the chance!

Do you know Luca? I am sure his name sounds familiar. He was the winner of Master Chef Season 4 and author of the cookbook My Italian Kitchen . We loved watching the show with the big girls and my oldest absolutely fell in love with his fun personality and charm. We rooted for him all season and were thrilled when he won! After that season was over, he started traveling around as a personal chef for hire. My oldest hatched a plan with my husband and they booked him to cook for my 40th birthday.
We had such a good time and he was just as fun as he was on TV. His sous-chef was his beautiful with a heart-of-gold wife, Cate. It was wonderful to get to listen to them talk about how they met and how much fun they were having traveling around enjoying his spotlight.
Luca truly is an incredible cook and a wonderful and kind human being. He took fun pictures with my daughters…
and even loaned us his aprons (temporarily of course)…
by the time dessert came around, we were all a little silly…
We struck up a friendship of sorts and when I was in Texas a few years ago visiting my college roommate, we met Luca and Cate for lunch.
it’s fun to keep in touch and watch as his beautiful family grows. His wife even just finished an rv makeover of her own! She was lucky enough to find an Airstream though and I am totally jealous- she did an incredible job!
Ok, enough about me…back to food…. when Luca asked if I would give his new venture a try, I was ALL IN!! The delivery was incredibly fast and the presentation was top notch- I even think the box was pretty.
I opened it to discover everything very carefully packed:
and under that, Delivery Italiano had carefully wrapped the jars to avoid breakage:
I pulled everything out to have a look and there was SO much!
We were working on packing for vacation so it was the perfect time to offer to cook dinner. Of course Brian wanted to know if I was feeling ok…. I assured him I was and dove in.
The inserts were very informative and I loved reading about where the ingredients came from. While everyone was waiting I prepared a sampler platter of tasters that were provided.
There was Aubergine (eggplant) prepared two ways with red pepper pesto and Italian crackers. I added some extra sharp white cheddar we had on hand and everyone scarfed it down so quickly I didn’t even get to taste the first batch. Already I was looking like a hero…
Then I went for the main course- Casarecce with Anfosso Red Pepper Pesto. The instructions were incredibly easy and in just a few minutes, dinner was served:
It was so good that my 7 year-old son, Jack, had THREE huge bowls full. He would have eaten more but there wasn’t any left.
To end any delicious meal, you need a small sweet of course. I love what was included- these perfectly sized Italian cookies.
They look like tiny donuts. the texture was a light and perfect end to an incredible meal.
We saved the second meal for returning home from vacation. There was plenty of starters left and the Lumaconi with Sugo Antico was just as excellent as the Casarecce.
In general, cooking completely stresses me out. This service had the complete opposite effect on me. The instructions were so easy, there was plenty of food and I looked like I knew what I was doing. So… THANK YOU Luca (and Delivery Italiano)!
Honestly, we have been wanting to give one of these delivery companies a try for a while now. I am completely hooked on Delivery Italiano! This food was amazing and I loved that everything was special. This wasn’t purchased at the local grocery or bulk food store, this was hand-selected from Italy and we could really taste the difference. If you have ever wanted to give this kind of service a try, I highly recommend this one!
